Liam Breen, MSc.

7 years experience in commercial manufacturing and global distribution across a broad range of dosage forms with a focus on QMS implementation/remediation, vendor management, data integrity and batch release.

About Liam

Liam is a quality specialist with seven years experience in biological, sterile injectables, and solid dose manufacture, packaging, and distribution. He joined DHC as a consultant in May of 2022.

Liam developed experience with a wide range of dosage forms, quality systems, and regulatory jurisdictions as a senior quality officer working on operating and maintaining Pfizer’s three major European Manufacturing and Importation Authorisations (MIAs), through which the company’s therapeutics destined for the European market were channeled from every corner of the globe (except Antarctica).

Prior to joining Dark Horse, Liam was working as a senior quality officer in Pfizer’s Global Transportation Quality group supporting the distribution of the BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Liam played a strong hand in the initial setup of the quality apparatus that supported the cutting edge 24-7, global, real-time-monitored supply chain for the vaccine; he also lead several critical updates for the systems as new challenges presented themselves throughout the early lifecycle. The role was initially a secondment from his previous position as vendor management lead for the EU MIAs where he also acted as data integrity SME, lead site information security officer, and SAP system “super user”. During his time operating under these licenses he also utilized every facet of the site’s quality management systems, supported the ongoing batch release activities, and was a key member for multiple competent authority inspections.

In his time before Pfizer Liam was a high school chemistry teacher and middle school science teacher; this worked wonders on his public speaking and presentation skills as there is no harsher audience than a room full of teenagers that you’re trying to convince to sit still for an hour. Teaching however, wasn’t providing the exposure to the frontiers of science Liam desired, which ultimately started him on his journey through Pfizer and on to Dark Horse. Liam also held a brief stint as a volunteer in the United States Armed Forces Research Institute of the Medical Sciences. Here he assisted in developing an HPLC-MS screening method for multiple anti-malarial compounds to assist in tracking resistance to the compounds in the malaria parasite in Cambodia and parts of Africa.
